Robert Vickers, our owner and the master technician behind all of our great repair, has been repairing band instruments for over 25 years. His education includes a Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Education.

He taught public school music at all levels for five years, but entered the band instrument repair field as a result of his keen interest in the restoration of vintage woodwinds.

Having decided to pursue this option, he wasted no time and entered the renowned band instrument repair program at Red Wing Technical College (now Minnesota State College Southeast Technical).

Upon graduation he entered the field of repair full time, supplementing his training by apprenticing with several master technicians and attending various Napbirt sponsored advanced training seminars. He is continually working to expand his knowledge of instrument design and acoustics, and advanced repair techniques.

Director of Bands

Habersham Central High School

My experience with Robert Vickers and Band Crusader has been very good. All repairs are done in a very timely manner. I have used other repair shops, and there would be times in which I would have to send an instrument back 2 or 3 times  to get it working properly. I have never had this experience with Robert. All I have to do is call, and he makes every effort to meet with me as soon as possible. In my 23 years of teaching band, Band Crusader has been the most consistent repair shop. I truly appreciate all that Robert has done for the band of blue. I would rate Band Crusader A+.

I've worked with Robert Vickers for nine years, and continue to use him for all of my repair needs. He's not just a businessman, he's also a musician, and former educator. He takes personal interest in all the programs that he serves, and is deeply committed to ensuring our success with high-functioning, performance-ready instruments. I'm proud to call him a friend and a colleague, and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

Joseph Brown

Professional Musician

Robert Vickers is one of the most professional horn repairman I have ever run across. My name is Joseph Brown; and I've been playing woodwind instruments for over forty years. At present, I work on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA, and play in the casinos in Gulf port, MS. I presently make the trip to Athens to continue to have my horn made playable by Robert. Playing my sax is my job/ my living. It is so important for me to have my horn in the best playing condition. Robert does that for me: he is a journeyman repairman, a true craftsman from the Old School. Thank you Robert for being there for me!
